Dementia: Understanding: Half Day Awareness Session

It is estimated that there are currently 20,000 people living with Dementia in Northern Ireland.  The CEC are pleased to provide a 3 hour Dementia awareness level programme for all staff working within health and social care across the statutory, voluntary and independent sectors.

This Dementia programme provides participants with descriptors on the incidence and key presentations of Dementia and the opportunity to reflect on delivering individualised person centred care within their own care setting. The importance of effective communication and person centred care will be emphasised throughout.

This programme will afford participants the opportunity to build upon current good practice by introducing or revisiting the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to the unique needs of a person with Dementia including factors that may lead to behaviours which challenge with suggested tips and skills provided.
