Cognitive Behaviour Therapy: An Introduction

This short introduction programme will be relevant to a registered nurses working across a variety of care settings.  It will provide an overview of the concept of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and highlight the main principles and techniques utilised in this psychological intervention.

The Future Nurse: Standards of proficiency for registered nurses (2018) highlight effective communication is central to the provision of safe and compassionate person-centred care and identify CBT as being an evidence based, best practice communication skill and approach in helping in the ability to communicate and manage relationships with people of all ages with a range of mental, physical, cognitive and behavioural health challenges.
