Retirement celebration3rd July 2020
CEC staff paid a fond farewell to Senior Education Manager Majella Doran as she retired from the HSC after 31 years of service on Friday 26 June.
Social distancing restrictions prevented us from having the usual celebrations with everyone together but with a restricted number of socially distanced people in the room and a little creativity with zoom, friends and colleagues were able to share their messages of good luck and farewell with Majella on the day.
After qualifying as a nurse in 1993 Majella held a number of posts in Acute Nursing care, initially in London, and then from 1996 in the Western Trust. During her career she achieved a number of qualifications and accolades including her MSc in Nursing, a Florence Nightingale Research Scholarship and the Dr Mona Grey Award for excellence in research.
She joined the CEC, then known as the NEDC, in 2009 as a Nurse Education Consultant before being appointed as Senior Education Manager (Altnagelvin) in 2011.
Although retiring from the HSC Majella is not putting her feet up just yet as she is moving to a Nurse Lecturer post with the University of Ulster. We will miss her but wish her well on the next step of her career and life journey.
