Purpose

To provide an opportunity for nursing staff to develop their understanding of a range of common blood investigations

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the session participants will:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of common haematology, biochemistry and microbiology laboratory investigations
  • Discuss the indications for various blood tests and laboratory investigations
  • Describe possible implications for the patient with abnormal result
