Safeguarding and Record Keeping for GP Nurses and Nursing Assistants

 

Purpose

To raise Awareness in the Recognising and Responding to Adult Safeguarding Issues, consistent with the Regional Policy on Adult Safeguarding: Prevention and Protection in Partnership (2015) and the Adult Safeguarding Partnership Training & Development Framework Level 2 (2013-2016)

 

To increase knowledge and understanding of the Legal and Professional issues relevant to record keeping

Learning Outcomes

  • Recognise and respond to Adult and child safeguarding issues
  • Contribute to the assessment and management of risk
  • Assist in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of adults and children at risk
  • Demonstrate understanding of the principles of capacity and consent
  • Discuss and apply the principles of person-centered care and best evidence based practice
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the special needs of the person with mental health problems
  • Explain the principles of record keeping
  • Discussed the legal and professional issues relevant to record keeping
  • Discuss and explore issues of accountability, confidentiality right of access to records and negligence in the context of record keeping
  • Reflect upon their role in existing recording keeping practices and identify areas for improvement
  • Understand the relationship between record keeping and person -centred, safe and effective care
