Paediatric Dietetics - An Introduction

 

Purpose

To provide a programme for registered dietitians as an introduction to the specialism of paediatric dietetics

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a knowledge of nutritional principles, feeding, nutritional requirements and nutritional assessment in the field of paediatric dietetics
  • Apply knowledge to ensure the most appropriate, evidence based advice is communicated to families and children
  • Critically evaluate new scientific and other evidence which may impact on dietetic practice
  • To give students confidence in handling a variety of paediatric cases
  • To enable students to apply theoretical knowledge and practical skills in order to provide the most appropriate advice for infants, children and adolescents
