Purpose

To facilitate participants in developing the knowledge required to safety and effectively care for patients with nephrostomy tubes.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this session participants will have:

  • Reviewed the anatomy and fuction of the nephrostomy tube.
  • Discussed the different problems associated with nephrostomy tubes.
  • Discussed how to resolve problems associated with nephrostomy tubes.
  • Knowledge of how to flush a nephrostomy tube safely.

Audience

Registered nurses who are involved with the care of patients with nephrostomy tubes.

Most suitable for community nurses.
