Blood Results for Physiotherapists (Understanding)



Provides physiotherapists working with a MSK caseload with the essential background in physiology and pathology for a haematological, biochemical and immunological approach to patient management.

To understand and interpret a wide variety of blood results with particular emphasis on musculoskeletal conditions.

    • low, normal, high Hb
  • Thrombosis and haemorrhage
  • Differential white count
  • Biochemistry
    • U&E’s for renal function
    • LFT ’s for hepatic function
  • Atherosclerosis, diabetes and lipids
  • Clinical case studies
  • Musculo-skeletal disorders and inflammatory response
  • Calcium and bone
  • Autoimmune disease
  • Rheumatoid disease and osteoarthritis
  • Practical aspects of interpreting results
