To raise awareness of the importance of the use of effective communication skills in the healthcare setting, and how these skills can be used to improve patient care and the overall patient and family experience.
- Discuss the importance of good communication in the healthcare setting.
- Explore the barriers and behaviours which promote and those which prevent effective communication.
List commonly used communication skills.
Discuss strategies for challenging communication issues e.g. Breaking bad news; anger and dealing with difficult questions.
Registered Nurses and Midwives on all parts of the professional Register
Delivery will involve presentations, discussion, group work, and role play
