SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) Communication Tool



To Introduce participants to the communication tool - S.B.A.R (Situation Background Assessment Recommendation) in framing communications between team members.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this session participants will be able to:

  • Recall the development of SBAR as a critical team communication tool
  • Identify how SBAR promotes patient safety
  • Describe the four elements of the SBAR communication tool
  • Illustrate the utilization of the SBAR communication tool in relaying patient information to team members
