Sepsis in the Community
To provide registered nurses with the knowledge and skills to recognise and manage the care of a person with sepsis.
By the end of this session the registered nurse will be able to:
- Define the term ‘sepsis’
- Identify the risk factors for sepsis
- Assess a person with suspected sepsis and stratify the risk of severe illness/death using criteria based on age.
- Explain the management of a person with suspected sepsis in the community
- Discuss the importance of family-oriented care and communication with carers
