Purpose

To provide participants with the knowledge to analyse and interpret arterial blood gases

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the session participants will be able to:

  • Identify acid base balance and buffer systems
  • Discuss the physiological effects of acid base disturbance
  • Identify the 6 steps in blood gas analysis
  • Interpret the findings of sample results in blood gas analysis

Audience

Registered Nurses – Acute or Community   (Not suitable for paediatric nurses)
