Purpose

To provide participants with a broad understanding of the key legal and professional issues faced by nurses and midwives in day to day clinical practice.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the short programme, participants will have:

  • An improved understanding of the most significant legal and professional issues (record keeping, accountability, negligence, confidentiality and consent) that they face in the workplace.
  • An awareness of the legislative basis, relevant standards and guidelines related to the above legal and professional issues.
  • An opportunity to discuss and reflect on the implications of legal and professional issues to their day to day practice.
