Female Genital Mutilation (FGM): An Overview
To raise awareness of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) by providing health professionals working with women and young girls with an overview of FGM and the opportunity to explore relevant professional and practice issues.
By the end of this study day participants will be able to:
- Define FGM and understand the social and cultural issues surrounding FGM
- Develop an understanding of the risk factors and health consequences relating to FGM
- Discuss the implications of FGM within a safeguarding and legal context
- Understand the implications and relevance of FGM to their professional role
