Blood Culture Collection Training

 

Purpose

To improve the knowledge and skills of practitioners in obtaining blood culture samples.  Therefore, improving the quality and clinical value of blood culture investigations and reduce the incidence of sample contamination.

Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate competence in blood culture collection through simulated practice
  • Demonstrate and discuss the infection control principles as set out in the Department of Health ‘Saving Lives’ document (2007).
