STORM 3 (Skills Training on Risk Management) Self Harm Mitigation - Suicide - 2 day Course
To enable participants to develop the skills needed to assess and manage a person at risk of suicide.
STORM consists of four 1/2 - day modules which can be completed on a flexible basis. During the sessions participants will explore:
- Assessment concentrates on the skills needed to assess the risk of suicide (compulsory)
- Safety Planning focuses on the skills needed to keep a person safe once the risk of suicide has been identified (compulsory)
- Problem Solving includes helping a person take control of their problems (optional)
- Future Safety Planning focuses on developing a plan for the future in the event that the risk of suicide may arise again (optional)
Midwives and Nurses on all parts of the Professional Register. AHPs are also welcome to apply if it is appropriate for their role.
Demonstration of Skills and 'Active Observation'
Practice of Skills through Role Rehearsal and Filmed Role Rehearsal
Appraisal of Skills through Self Reflection and Group Feedback
Translation of Skills into Practice through Discussion.
