Purpose

The aim of the study day is to discuss contemporary issues in antenatal screening using an evidence based and ethical perspective

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the study day participants will be able to

  • Discuss the concept and purpose of antenatal screening.
  • Apply relevant evidence to review and update their knowledge of antenatal screening tests, eg Parovirus B19 and Varicella Zoster
  • Reflect on their role in discussing options with pregnant women and supporting them in their choices
  • Appreciate ethical dilemmas relevant to antenatal screening

Midwives and other health professionals involved in the care of pregnant women, their babies and their families
