UNOCINI One – How To Make an Effective Assessment and Referral to Social Services

 

Purpose

SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN LEVEL 1 IS AN ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENT PRIOR TO ATTENDING THIS SESSION.

To provide participants with the underpinning policy direction and practice for implementing UNOCINI (Understanding the Needs of Children in N Ireland) Preliminary Assessment and making a good referral.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this session participants will demonstrate an understanding of:

  • Why and When to undertake a Preliminary Assessment

  • Professionals’ roles and responsibilities

  • Domains and Elements of the Framework

  • Threshold of Needs Model

  • The Principles of Consent and Information Sharing

  • How to make an appropriate referral

  • The pre-birth risk assessment tool (2015)
