Derbyshire Language Scheme
The Derbyshire Language Scheme is a 2 day course. It is workshop based and enables participants to gain a certificate level qualification to use the Derbyshire Language Scheme (DLS). The DLS is a language programme which is used to develop receptive and expressive language skills in children from pre-lingual to the complex stages of language development. The scheme contains an assessment which then follows into a remediation programme.
To understand the background and design features of the Derbyshire Language Scheme
To be able to use the assessment sections of the programme at all levels
To be able to use the assessment to design appropriate treatment using the Derbyshire Teaching sections at each level of the programme
To be able to use the Derbyshire Language programme to set up and run group therapy sessions
To understand how to use the programme alongside other professional colleagues
Speech and Language Therapists and Speech and Language Therapy Assistants who work with children
2 Day Programme consisting of lectures, practical's and group work.

Participants must bring the Derbyshire Language Scheme Teaching Manuals Volumes 1 & 2 and the Derbyshire Language Scheme Picture Test Booklet.
These do not need to be purchased but can be borrowed from your Speech & Language Therapy department.
